John Eliot Gardiner leads the Philharmonia Orchestra in a vivid and dramatic recording of Holst's masterpiece The Planets, Op. 32. Beloved far beyond the classical world, highlights such as Jupiter and Mars showcase sweeping melodies, powerful rhythms, and brilliant orchestral color, while Gardiner also brings out the essential English character of the score.

Performed by the Monteverdi Choir Women's Voices and the Philharmonia Orchestra, with deputy conductor Arhym Horup for Grainger. Recorded in February 1994 at All Hallows Church, Gospel Oak, London.
