If I Could Live Like You
Product Description
This second album, Kimi no you ni ikiretara, marks a powerful return to alternative rock from the enigmatic pop unit Uchu Nekoko, known for their collaborations with Lovely Summer Chan, Izumi Makura, Enjoy Music Club, and more. It is their first full-length release in about two and a half years, and the first since vocalist/keyboardist kano officially joined the band.
While their recent city pop-leaning tracks have been highly praised, this album highlights Uchu Nekoko’s full-band identity with dynamic guitar work, emotional songwriting, and a bittersweet yet beautiful atmosphere that connects directly with listeners. Engineered by Kosuke Nakamura (noted for work with Yo Irie, Yuta Orisaka, TAMTAM, Taiko Super Kicks, Honjitsu Kyuen), the sound balances live-band energy, Sonic Youth-style alternate tunings, and the group’s signature floating clarity. The cover illustration is by artist and filmmaker Tomoko Oshima, acclaimed creator of the manga Secchan and known for her delicate depictions of young women.
Formed by nemuko yamanaka (guitar, keys) and kano (vocals, keys), Uchu Nekoko is an alternative pop unit that debuted with the 2014 collaboration single with Lovely Summer Chan, followed by the 2016 album Hibi no awa. In 2017, with kano on vocals, they released the single Night Cruising Love / parks, further establishing their dreamy, emotionally resonant sound now fully realized on Kimi no you ni ikiretara.
