About the Manufacturer
Toraya, the manufacturer of this product, has been running a confectionery business for five centuries since its establishment in Kyoto during the late Muromachi period. Toraya has been serving the Imperial Household since the reign of Emperor Goyozei (1586-1611) and continues to do so today. In 1869, during the Meiji era, Toraya accompanied the Emperor Meiji during his move to Tokyo and opened a shop there in addition to Kyoto.
