About Kinjirushi

In the late 1970s, when Japan's average life expectancy became the highest among major countries, interest in Japanese cuisine increased, leading to a "sushi boom" in major American cities in the early 1980s. Although the number of sushi restaurants rapidly increased, there were challenges in keeping up with ingredient supply, resulting in a tendency to serve sushi made with inferior materials.

In response to this situation, a sales office was established in Los Angeles (now K.W.I.) in 1984 to "supply high-quality wasabi throughout the United States," and wholesale sales began. Initially, the understanding of wasabi among foreigners was low, with a perception that anything green and spicy was acceptable.
