I previously had a Wahl professional cordless clipper, that I had for about 8 years. My use is only on myself, my wife cuts my hair every two to three weeks for me. The Wahl failed due to rust in the motor (I rinse the unit after every use), I opened to inspect it after it failed.
The Panasonic Professional is leaps and bounds better in every way than the Wahl. The unit is more compact, much lighter, yet the cutter head is nearly the same size. The micro adjustment is a better design, as it is a rotary dial integral in the body of the clipper, instead of a lever hanging off of the side of it. The blades cut very well (not surprising given Japan's superiority in all things related to blades), yet the rounded off nose design is very soft when directly against skin. This is a huge contrast with the Wahl. The unit is also very quiet. I cannot comment on battery life as it is only used for approximately 15 minutes at a time.
Overall, an expensive clipper, but worth every penny. I fully expect this outlast the Wahl as well, given that my Panasonic shaver is almost 10 years old and still runs like it is brand new.
