Product Description

This compact color scheme sample book contains 348 patterns of modern color schemes from the Taisho to early Showa periods, brought back to life in the modern age. The concept of "color schemes" was not generally recognized until the Taisho and early Showa eras, when the need for color was first acknowledged. Sanzo Wada was one of the pioneers in recognizing this need and created an epoch-making "color scheme sample book" that showcased specific color scheme patterns. This book is a reprint of the famous "Color Scheme General Guide" in a new and revised edition.

The color schemes included in this book are not only materials from the Taisho and Showa periods but also possess a universal sensibility that can be utilized even today. It includes 348 color schemes, complete with CMYK values and color chips for all color tables. This makes it ideal for color coordinators, interior design coordinators, and others involved in research and practical use in various fields.

Product Specification

This book is a collection of 348 color combinations originated by Sanzo Wada (1883-1967), who was active as an artist, art school instructor, costume designer for movies and theater, and kimono and fashion designer. His extensive and versatile talents were centered primarily on contemporary color research, visual perception, and form. Wada's interest in the importance of color led him to found the Japan Standard Color Association (present-day Japan Color Research Institute).

Sanzo Wada was not only a color researcher but also an artist, fashion designer, and stage and film art director. He received the 1954 Academy Award for Best Costume Design for "Gate of Hell" and was recognized as a Person of Cultural Merit by the Japanese government in 1958.
