The microphone function cannot be used with this accessory. It is designed for connecting 3.5 mm plug earphones to compatible digital low-power community radios such as the IC-DRC1.

This adapter can be used together with the following Icom earphones: handy radio earphone SP-13 (discontinued), ear-hook earphone SP-16, black ear-hook earphone SP-16B, black ear-hook earphone with long cable SP-16BW, ear-hook earphone SP-29, and ear-hook earphone SP-29L. SP-29L can be used, but because its plug is L-shaped, it is not a manufacturer-recommended combination.
