Abound® is a nutritional support drink powder from Abbott built around three key nutrients — Calcium HMB (CaHMB), L-glutamine, and L-arginine — that work together to support the body's use of protein. L-glutamine and L-arginine are conditionally essential amino acids widely used in nutritional supplements; each 24 g sachet of Abound Strawberry & Orange provides 7 g of L-glutamine and 7 g of L-arginine.

HMB (beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate) is a metabolite of leucine, a branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) involved in muscle protein synthesis. Abbott states that Abound was among the first HMB-containing food products the company introduced to the Japanese market. Per Abbott's official nutrition label, each sachet contains 1.5 g of Calcium HMB, providing 1.2 g of HMB (2.4 g of HMB across two sachets). Separately, marketing materials from Abound/Abbott state that two sachets deliver 3 g of "effective HMB" — an amount the brand equates to 48 g of leucine, or roughly the leucine content of 66 eggs.

Abound is positioned by the brand to help support the maintenance of muscle mass, including during periods of intensive training or when training is interrupted, and to help support amino acid levels, such as glutamine, that can become depleted under physical stress. Usage

Dissolve one sachet in 240 ml to 300 ml of water. Guideline intake: 1–2 sachets per day. Store at room temperature out of direct sunlight. Avoid freezing or storing at high temperatures. If not consumed immediately after dissolving, store in a refrigerator, and discard if more than 24 hours have passed since dissolving. Do not use this product as the sole source of nutritional management. If given to children, use only as recommended by a physician or other health care professional. Do not administer intravenously.
