4w1h hot sandwich solo Sandwich Maker Made in Japan
Description
Product Description
4w1h is a hot sandwich plate developed by Tsubame-Sanjo Kitchen Laboratory, founded in 2017 by Sugiyama Metal Co., Ltd., a Tsubame-based metal-processing manufacturer, working together with a product designer, graphic designer, and copywriter. It makes a complete hot sandwich from a single slice of bread and its filling — a portion sized for one, suited to solo camping as well as everyday breakfasts. In 2022, it was redesigned so the upper and lower plates fully detach.
Features
- A wave-shaped edge holds the bread in place when the maker is closed, so the crust doesn't stick out and the filling stays in.
- Finished sandwiches come out in bite-sized, one-handed pieces, easy for children to eat too.
- Two-tone black and silver design helps keep track of which side is grilling.
- Upper and lower plates detach for easier cleaning and can be used separately, like small frying pans — handy for preparing bento box items.
Design Recognition
4w1h Hot Sandwich Solo received the Good Design Award 2020 (Japan) and a special judges' award at the 2020 Japan Tsubame Industrial Design Competition.
