Product Description

"Collection" of beautiful sustainable architecture. This is the first collection in Japan of the work of Glenn Murcutt (1936-), one of Australia's leading architects. Winner of the Pritzker Prize, the Nobel Prize in Architecture, in 2002, and highly acclaimed worldwide, Murcutt has created more than 500 buildings in Australia in his 40 years of design activity. His buildings are not only beautifully crafted with fine detailing, but are also thoughtfully designed as "spatial devices (contraptions)" that respond to their natural surroundings to create rich living spaces.

This book introduces 13 representative works through photographs that beautifully capture the essence of Murcutt's architecture, the harmony of nature and architecture. Glenn Murcutt's architecture, a beautiful solution derived from the natural environment, continues to lead contemporary architecture as a rare example of design that has sustainability at its core.

The concurrent publication, "Glenn Murcutt: Thinking Drawings/Working Drawings," presents drawings of the 13 works featured in this book.
