The WF-1000XM5 is a high-resolution, fully wireless headphone that delivers the world's highest noise cancellation and high wearing comfort. It is equipped with Sony's proprietary 8.4mm Dynamic Driver X, a new driver unit that combines different materials for the dome and the edge. The soft edge reproduces low frequencies that sink in, and the lightweight, highly rigid dome reproduces high frequencies with extension. High-quality processing from signal processing to playback minimizes distortion and delivers overwhelmingly high sound quality with high reproducibility.

The WF-1000XM5 also features the world's best noise cancelling integrated processor V2 and high-quality noise cancelling processor QN2e. It is equipped with dual feedback and feed-forward microphones and three noise-canceling microphones for each ear using "Multi-Noise Sensor Technology" to achieve unparalleled noise-canceling performance. This enables an additional 20% noise reduction compared to the WF-1000XM4, allowing users to enjoy highly reproducible sound quality in unprecedented silence.

With a compact design, the WF-1000XM5 offers high wearability and a minimalist design achieved through miniaturization and weight reduction. The weight of the wearing part has been reduced from 7.3g in the previous model WF-1000XM4 to 5.9g. By reducing the volume of the earphone body by approximately 25% compared to the previous model, interference with the ear is reduced and a comfortable fit is achieved. The inside of the wearing part has a curved shape that fits the inside of the ear, thanks to the "ergonomic surface design" that supports the main body of the earphone on the surface in contact with the ear. The height of the earphones has also been reduced to minimize the portion of the earbud that protrudes from the ear, resulting in excellent wearing stability.
