The Meiji Milfy HP is a milk powder product that uses low molecular peptides as its protein source. These peptides are enzymatically decomposed from high-quality whey protein to produce a flavorful, low-molecular-weight peptide with sufficiently low allergenicity. This product is lactose-free and is suitable for babies with milk allergies, congenital lactose intolerance, galactosemia, or transient lactose intolerance as an alternative to breast milk or formula. The Meiji Milfy HP is approved by the Consumer Affairs Agency as a milk allergen-free food and a lactose-free food. It is made from whey protein degradation products (low-molecular-weight peptides) that are sufficiently low in allergenicity and have a good flavor. The fatty acid composition is as close as possible to that of breast milk, while taking care to increase the digestibility and absorption of lipids and to reduce irritation to the digestive tract. Biotin and carnitine are newly added. Dextrin is used as a carbohydrate. Vitamins such as vitamin D and vitamin K are included. The amount and mutual balance of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus are adjusted. The amount and balance of nucleotides are adjusted to be similar to breast milk.
