About the Author

Kazuo Oga, born in Akita Prefecture in 1952, is a celebrated animation art director known for his work with Studio Ghibli. After attending a designer school post-high school, he began his career at Kobayashi Productions in 1972, working on the TV series "Kashi no Ki Mock." Oga's significant contribution to Studio Ghibli began with "My Neighbor Totoro," and he has since played a crucial role in the art direction and background art of most Ghibli films. Currently, Oga is a freelance artist, engaging in a broad spectrum of creative endeavors, including writing, illustrating picture books, and more. His latest project is the movie "The Tale of Princess Kaguya."
