The narrative follows Xie Ren, the crown prince of the Xianle Kingdom, who possesses a natural talent and dedicates himself to saving people. Despite his efforts, he is banished from the heavenly realm twice. In the year 800, Xie Ren ascends to the heavens for the third time, but he is now known as the "laughingstock of the three worlds," with no one left to pray to him. Determined to collect merits, Xie Ren descends to the lower realms to start anew as a priest, diligently collecting junk.
