The GMW-BZ5000 carries forward the iconic square design of the original G-SHOCK DW-5000C while evolving the 5000 Series in both function and materials. Using more than 40 years of accumulated G-SHOCK shock-resistance data, this full-metal model employs an advanced generative design co-created by humans and AI for its structure and exterior. A newly developed case construction links the bezel and center case vertically, revealing a complex, futuristic side profile that highlights the beauty of its engineering.
An internal resin inner protector absorbs impact through elastic deformation, allowing the watch to meet G-SHOCK’s strict shock-resistance standards despite its full-metal build. The stainless-steel case uses a screw-back for excellent airtightness and durability. A high-resolution MIP (Memory In Pixel) LCD delivers sharp, high-contrast readability even in bright sunlight, with four switchable main time displays and the option, via the CASIO WATCHES app and Bluetooth connectivity, to change to a classic 7-segment font while preserving the heritage-inspired layout of the original G-SHOCK.
Practical performance includes Tough Solar power with a high-capacity rechargeable battery, 20-bar water resistance, and radio-controlled timekeeping (Multi Band 6) for highly accurate time around the world. Additional features include mobile link via Bluetooth, dual-city world time (55 cities / 38 time zones), stopwatch, countdown timer, five daily alarms with snooze, battery level indicator, power saving function, full auto calendar, 12/24-hour formats, LED backlight with afterglow, and long running time of about 6 months (normal use) or about 22 months in power-saving mode on a full charge.
